Goal
The Musée Granet in Aix-en-Provence invited our class to create promotional materials for a student night event held at the museum. The goal was to make the event more appealing to a young audience while maintaining the museum’s distinctive atmosphere. There was also a real challenge, since only one project out of all the pairs would be selected to actually be displayed on the streets of Aix-en-Provence.

Concept
We chose to focus primarily on the wording. The idea was to catch the eye with phrases that, at first glance, speak directly to young people, such as “let’s party” or “let’s get away from it all”, before ending with “at the museum.” This contrast helps make the museum more accessible and breaks down its image, which is sometimes perceived as too formal, especially during a late-night event.
At the same time, we chose to reinterpret the exhibited works by transforming them into colorful silhouettes. This treatment makes them more appealing and also allowed us to play with distortions to create animated versions, bringing movement and energy that evoke the atmosphere of the evening. Finally, the use of a monospace font modernizes the museum’s image, drawing inspiration from digital design codes that are more familiar to a student audience.

Fun fact
Even though our project wasn’t ultimately selected for the Student Night event, working on a real-world project was truly rewarding. And I went to the event with my friends, it was a great night!
